who owns my domain name?

Domain names are "owned" by the UK domain name registry, Nominet. You purchase a "right to use" from them on a yearly basis. Moore Technology Solutions will provide technical management of your domain name during your time with us.

The domain name is therefore "yours", even though we will register the domain in our own name. We register domains in our own name as the Nominet database is a public registry and spammers will use this as a source of email addresses. It also allows us to communicate directly with Nominet on your behalf, facilitating our ability to manage the domain. You may choose, if you wish, to have the domain registered in your own name (making your full postal address, telephone number and email address visible to the general public).

Note that failure to pay domain renewal fees on time will mean that Nominet can reassign the domain name to any person that requests it.
